Ham Loaf

The hospital where I work has a very good cafeteria. In fact, it is now run by a family who used to operate a very popular mom & pop diner in this town that has since closed its doors. Since Mr. Turoff has taken over the kitchen at Marion General Hospital, this meal has become a favorite. In fact, the local newspaper will publish when this meal is being served and people will flock to the hospital cafeteria, just to eat this Ham Loaf. Once the newspaper published the recipe. This is the recipe, scaled down to family size.

MGH’s Famous Ham Loaf

Serves: 6-8

2 pounds ground ham
1 pound ground pork
1 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs
1 cup milk
                        Glaze:
2 cups pureed pineapple
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons mustard

Mix all ingredients and form into a loaf. Place in greased loaf pan and bake at 325 degrees F. for 1-1 1/2 hours, uncovered. Baste with glaze every 1/2 hour.
